Laser Hair Restoration - Is it the Holy Grail of Hair Regrowth?

Laser hair restoration is a relatively new phenomenon when it comes to potential cures for baldness. So how does it work and how does it rank alongside other hair loss cures? Let's find out in this article.

The Low Level Laser

Also known as Low Laser Light Therapy, this technology is similar to existing drugs and natural methods. The idea is that you can stimulate the scalp to do two things. The first is to get better circulation and nutrients to the hair follicles. The second is to rid the scalp of DHT, an androgen that causes the hair follicles to shut down and become malnutritioned in the first place.

The beauty of the laser is that it is actually able to penetrate the scalp by a short distance of 5mm to get closer to the follicles. Whether this leads to improved results over other methods is the subject of argument.

Clinic Or Handheld

You may have seen some handheld devices. In fact, these are not lasers but LEDs. They are nothing like their clinical counterparts. I would advise you not to waste any money on these home handheld "laser" devices. They are just a scam.

If you visit a clinic then they will use real low level laser devices with FDA approval for use as a hair regrowth apparatus.

Comparisons

As already said, laser hair restoration works in the same way as drugs and natural ointments. Whilst it does not have the side effects of drugs, the laser does rank as the most expensive form of hair restoration.

If the outcome is the same, then why use the laser? The high cost is a lifetime one because repeated sessions are required to maintain hair regrowth. If sessions are stopped, your hair will resume its original pattern before treatment started.
